Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr's 'beautiful' reunion is too wholesome to bear

Robert Downey Jr and Tom Holland played everyone’s favorite mentor and student in the MCU and the pair finally reunited five years after their emotional Avengers scene.

It’s been five years since theaters worldwide were filled with fans weeping over the heroic death of Iron Man in Avenger: End Game. Seriously, Robert Downey Jr and Tom Holland deserve an award for sending crowds into a blubbering mess. Although their on-screen friendship is over – unless Marvel somehow resurrects the OG Avenger – the Hollywood actors are still besties IRL and their latest reunion is the most wholesome thing we’ve seen all day.

Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr’s reunion ‘warms Marvel-loving hearts’

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man just bumped into his old friend and mentor, Tony Stark, at the Critics Choice Award 2024.

Tom, 27, reunited with Robert, 58, at the star-studded ceremony on Sunday night (January 14, 2024) which saw Oppenheimer scoop up the most honors, eight total, including Best Picture.

Fandango journalist Erik Davis captured the sweet moment, posting the images on Twitter. The upload has been viewed nearly 300K times.

“At one point Tom Holland came over to our table for a big hug with RDJ, and it warmed my Marvel-loving heart,” he wrote.

One fan commented: “Their relationship on screen felt so genuine. And it seems like it is. Thanks for sharing.” Another called their bond “beautiful”.

Is someone cutting onions in here?

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has continued to win the Barbenheimer battle, including at the Golden Globes. The biographical thriller has won five awards despite Greta Gerwig’s nostalgic Barbie receiving nine nods – and only one win for the inaugural cinematic and box office achievement award.

Downey won the gong for Best Supporting Actor at the Critics Choice Award. Holland, meanwhile, attended for his nomination for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Apple TV Plus’s The Crowded Room.

Zendaya gave her expert input for Tom’s latest series

If your girlfriend is a two-time Emmy-winning actress, you’d better ask her for some filming tips!

During the Critics Choice red carpet, Tom revealed he and Zendaya watched The Crowded Room together during the editing process and he would send her episode clips for expert advice. It meant she’s seen the show “more times than he would’ve expected her to do so,” Holland claimed. But they’ve never watched finalized episodes since release.

They have, however, spent their alone time reminiscing on their youth by watching Spider-Man: Homecoming – their first collaboration – together. But they’ve had to limit themselves to keep the film special. After all, it was the start of their romance.
