Matthew Sims of Shreveport, La., and formerly of Laurel, was born Dec. 14, 1973 and passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2018 in Williams, Ariz.
He attended West Jones High School and through the years worked for Pitts Swabbing Service of Laurel, Wolf Petroleum of Doyline, Ala., and Gentry Trucking of Greenwood, La.
He was preceded in death by this father Larry Sims; and his maternal grandmother Ester Bush Bailey.
He is survived by his wife Diana of Shreveport; mother Jan Chancellor of Daleville, Ala.; son Matthew Sims Jr. of Ellisville; daughter Kambre L. Sims of Ellisville; and stepchildren Tyler Leach and Julia Leach of Shreveport.
Matt is also survived by his brothers Michael Sims of Laurel, Joseph (April) Sims of Pace, Fla., and Edward M. Chancellor of Laurel; mother-in-law Janis Miot; and uncle Dean Bush.
A memorial service for Matthew will be in Shreveport on Saturday, Sept. 15.
